About Ms. Garrity...
Ms. Garrity, 7th grade, 1967.
Ms. Berta Garrity was born in Memphis and graduated from Treadwell High School (the mighty Eagles!). She studied at the University of Tennessee at Martin for two years before transferring to Middle Tennessee State University, and in December of 1975 earned her B.S. degree and teaching license. Life took her all over the place and everywhere after that, and in 1998 she finally landed in eastern Washington, where she taught in a parochial school for 13 years. She returned to Tennessee in 2015, and this is her second year of teaching ELA in the Academy at Northeast.
Ms. Garrity has two adult daughters, three grandsons, and two cats. She loves reading (well, yeah!), making things, geology, traveling, and naps. She really loves working with students and cheering them on to be the voracious readers and excellent writers.
And chocolate. Gotta have chocolate.
